MUSKOGEE – A Tahlequah man has pleaded guilty to his role in a drug trafficking network that was operated out of a state prison.
Federal prosecutors announced Thursday that Jimmie W. Sequichie Jr., 25, pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He could face five to 40 years in prison and a fine of $5 million for the first charge, and an additional five years or more for the second.
Sequichie will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal Service pending completion of a presentence report.
Authorities allege Cody McClendon, a member of the Indian Brotherhood and an inmate at the McAlester state prison, was using a contraband cell phone to facilitate the sale and distribution of methamphetamine. Sequichie was labeled by investigators as an “enforcer” who would threaten or commit violence to help in the collection of drug debts. Sequichie received meth in return for his role.
Several other people have pleaded guilty to their roles in the network, and others are still facing charges in federal court.
Tahlequah police officers initiated the investigation before seeking assistance from state and federal agencies.
